Olympic trial cuts swimming

This announcement is crap and takes nothing into consideration except the elites like Dressel. I thought North Carolina had fast swimmers, but you guys are from states where your States and Futures meets are only comprised of swimmers with Olympic Trials cuts. Up until this thread I thought OT cuts were fast and represented the pinnacle of the sport. I agree. You are incorrect. Many swimmers attained these cuts when they were years old and now are bigger and stronger and faster and we have no idea how fast they are.

The problem is we have no meets for them to qualify for Trials and even if we do, they will have to alter current training plan to make the cut. As far as Covid safety goes, they could easily break this meet into more sessions and have no time trials and accommodate everyone.

They could also split meet into male and … Read more ». Trials are a qualifying meet where a team is being picked. The are not picking a team, the times earn you a spot on the team. Just like the time earned these kids a spot at Trials.

Give the swimmers more credit than that! That would seem to make the most sense and people would probably just go along with it without complaints. Not fair To the kids.
